Testimonials

We have worked with Hulme Piano for decades and continue to happily do so! Conrad is our go-to for all of our piano needs, including tunings for our most high-profile artists in multiple venues. He’s very reliable, professional, and flexible with our needs and requests. We are lucky to have such a skilled technician available to us!
— Melissa Carter | Director of Events and Finance of Harriman-Jewell Series
Hulme Piano has been an integral part of the Folly Theater’s organization for over 30 years, faithfully maintaining our own American Steinway throughout all of those years, and in the last 10 years, the Hamburg Steinway that is owned by Harriman Jewell, and stored at the Folly.
My experience working with Greg Hulme initially, and then Conrad, as Greg brought him into the business has been exemplary. Both Greg and Conrad have always been there when we needed them, and have been on site for the needs of such greats as Emanuel Ax, Dave Brubeck, Lang Lang, Andras Schiff, Simone Dinnerstein, Brad Mehldau, Ethan Iverson and many more. In addition to our own programming (Jazz & Americana), we have a number of rental clients such as Harriman- Jewell, Friends of Chamber Music, Heartland Men’s Chorus, all of whom have utilized the services of Hulme Piano for many years.
In the twelve years that I have been here, we have always received compliments about our pianos and the way that they have been maintained. In the last few years since Conrad has taken over the business from his father, we continue to have positive experiences, and would highly recommend Conrad and Hulme Piano to anyone.
Please feel free to contact me should you want further information.
— Gail Tallis | Executive Director of Folly Theater
Conrad Hulme has cared for my 1894 Steinway B for many years, always with the highest quality work, attention to detail, and respect for both the instrument and the client. A few years ago he rebuilt the action, making it as smooth as silk, supple, and responsive. Conrad worked with me over several weeks to get just the sound I wanted from this vintage Steinway, and he has graciously honored my request to keep it tuned to A=432. I am fortunate and grateful to have had Conrad to keep my piano in excellent condition.
— Jon Bauer | Composer, pianist
Working with Conrad has been great! Having studied the craft his whole life under the apprenticeship of his parents, he is a pro and I feel completely comfortable having him work on all of my piano needs. Conrad has been keeping my 1940’s Baldwin grand in great shape and completely restored a 1920’s Steinway grand for the church I work for a few years ago and tunes it almost monthly. He is a true artisan! Often I get recommendation requests for a piano tech/tuner and Conrad is my go to.

SEE MY WORK

Our Story

Generational craftsmanship

My name is Conrad. I grew up immersed in the world of pianos. My father Greg Hulme founded and built his restoration workshop on our home property in Greenwood, Missouri. Over the years of steadfast dedication to mastering his trade, he earned a reputation among his colleagues, institutions, concert halls, and innumerable individuals as one of the finest of rebuilders and technicians in the trade. I began apprenticing with him officially in my early 20s, but throughout my childhood I was in and out of the shop helping, watching and playing by his side. My knowledge of the craft of piano technology comes from him, my love for the instrument came first through playing. I was a dedicated student and participated in concerts and competitions throughout my youth. I attended UMKC in the piano performance program. My history as a pianist and growing up the son of a master rebuilder motivates me to take great pride in my work with pianos. I am honored to continue the legacy of my father’s life’s work and strive to provide the best quality service that I can in his footsteps and for the love of the piano.
